Luisa Almaguer returns to Pohoda — this time as a solo artist
Last year, we experienced her at Trenčín Airport as part of the extraordinary Africa Express project alongside Damon Albarn. In 2026, Luisa Almaguer returns to Pohoda, this time with her own music and singular artistic vision.

Luisa Almaguer is a singer, songwriter, and artist from Mexico City, whose work has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Latin American alternative music. She blends folk, shoegaze, grunge, and hyperpop with intense lyrics about identity, love, and resistance. Her approach is deeply personal, yet naturally political, sensitive, and bold.
As a trans woman, she brings an authentic lived experience into her work, which has become an inseparable part of her artistic identity. Critics have praised her ability to turn intimate expression into a powerful musical experience. Her song “Hacernos Así” has been recognized as a trans resistance anthem in cultural criticism. Rolling Stone named her album WEYES one of the best albums of 2024, with additional recognition from outlets such as KEXP, Remezcla, El País, Vogue México, and Apple Music.
Over the course of her career, Luisa has collaborated with notable artists, opened for bands including Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Fangoria, and participated in projects with Damon Albarn, who said: “Working with Luisa Almaguer was a revelation. She has a rich, nuanced baritone you wouldn’t expect…”
On stage, Luisa Almaguer brings intensity, poetry, and a musical world that defies easy categorization, yet resonates powerfully live. We are thrilled to welcome her back to Pohoda, where she will present her work in full force as a solo artist, and we believe her performance will be among the most memorable moments of the festival’s 30th edition.
The 30th edition of Pohoda will feature performances by Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Lykke Li, IDLES, Denzel Curry, Oliver Tree, Baxter Dury, Apashe & Brass Orchestra, SOFT PLAY, Action Bronson, Emilíana Torrini, Aldous Harding, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Boko Yout, Penguin Cafe, Kae Tempest, Fanfare Ciocărlia, Annie & The Caldwells, Emma-Jean Thackray, Native James, Para, Gleb, Turtle Island, Fat Dog, KOIKOI, Pistamashina and many more.
For the first time this year, Pohoda will also include an Extra Day on Wednesday, 8th July 2026, with legendary The Cure, Scottish band The Twilight Sad, Ireland’s Just Mustard, and Denis Bango performing. Bango will perform songs from his project Fvck_Kvlt and the band Wilderness on the piano, just before The Cure’s performance. The Extra Day will also feature a late-night afterparty at Trenčín Airport.
