The 30th edition of the Pohoda Festival will be celebrated with one of Europe's most captivating singers, Emilíana Torrini. Her unique voice, amazing lyrics, and polished songs like “Jungle Drum”, “Sunny Road”, and “Me and Armini”, as well as new tracks from her album Miss Flower, will play at Trenčín Airport in July 2026.
International recognition came to Emilíana with songs like “Jungle Drum”, which topped the charts in Germany, Austria, and Belgium, as well as tracks like “Sunny Road”, “Big Jumps”, and “Hold Heart”. In addition, she is well-known for her many collaborations. She co-wrote “Slow”, a hit by Kylie Minogue, which earned her a Grammy nomination. Her remarkable and versatile vocals have appeared on albums by GusGus, Kid Koala, Paul Oakenfold, and Thievery Corporation.
Emilíana studied opera singing but later immersed herself in the world of indie pop and folk as a singer-songwriter. Her first two albums were recorded in her native Iceland, and the acclaimed albums Love in the Time of Science, Fisherman’s Woman, Me and Armini, and Tookah were released on respected UK indie labels One Little Indian and Rough Trade. Her work proves that Emilíana is not only an exceptional singer but also a gifted songwriter.
She has also made her mark in film and television. Her voice featured in “Gollum's Song” in the second film of The Lord of the Rings series, she recorded a version of “White Rabbit” for the film Sucker Punch, and her songs have appeared in numerous TV shows, from Luther to Grey’s Anatomy.
At Pohoda, she will also perform material from her latest album, Miss Flower, created in London in collaboration with Simon Byrt. The album is inspired by private letters from the 1960s and won the Best Pop Album award at the Icelandic Film Awards and was accompanied by a successful European tour.
Tied to the album is the film project The Extraordinary Miss Flower, a performative film by directors Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard (20,000 Days on Earth). In the film, Emilíana presents her new album, with the songs interwoven with readings of letters and script dialogues. Emilíana makes her acting debut alongside Caroline Catz. Among the readers of the letters are Nick Cave, Angus Sampson, Richard Ayoade, Mark Monero, and Siggi Baldursson. The film had its world premiere in the competition section at the London Film Festival and has since been screened at various festivals, including Dublin, Glasgow, and the European Film Days in Prague.
Emilíana Torrini will bring not only her signature soft vocals and powerful songs but also a new creative phase that has brought her significant success in recent years. Festival-goers can look forward to an exceptional concert from one of Europe's most captivating musicians.
