Scottish band The Twilight Sad will also perform at the 30th edition of Pohoda. The band has gained international recognition for its darkly poetic indie rock and will bring to Trenčín Airport the characteristic combination of melancholy, energy, and sincerity that has accompanied their work since their debut album Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters. They will perform at Pohoda on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, as part of THE CURE Extra Day.
From their unassuming origins as a group of school friends drawn together by a shared passion for music to the global touring force they have quietly become, The Twilight Sad’s ascent has been forged the old way with grit, graft and five exceptional studio albums.
The Kilsyth group - based around the core duo of James Graham and Andy MacFarlane - seemed to emerge fully formed with their blindsiding 2007 debut Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters but there has been an undeniable evolution throughout the critically acclaimed body of work they have since produced. The band’s last album, 2019's IT WON/T BE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, was released to both critical acclaim and commercial success, marking a new high in the beloved Scottish band's trajectory to date.
They will perform at Pohoda 2026 at a time when the band is preparing new material that follows on from this successful album. At the end of October 2025, they released a new single, “Waiting for the Phone Call”, featuring former members Alex Mackay, who currently plays with Mogwai, and David Jeans, as well as Robert Smith, this time not as a singer but as a guitarist. Smith himself says of The Twilight Sad: “If the world was a better place they would be playing to more people, and I think they can.” And we believe that a large audience will gather at the Trenčín airport. In addition to The Twilight Sad, The Cure, Just Mustard, and another artist, who we will announce later this week, will perform on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. All of these performers were specially selected by Robert Smith of The Cure.
The exclusive partner of the festival's extra day is ESET.
