Thank you for your support

Thank you for your support

Thank you for your positive comments, e-mails, shared posts, and other gestures that have been popping out as an expression of your support for rescheduling Pohoda to 2021, announced yesterday. Your responses assure us that we made a good decision and that we can rely on the most valuable thing a festival can possibly have—the trust of its visitors. We also thank top experts, professors Zuzana Krištúfková and Mária Štefkovičová, for consultation. The clear information they provided ended the period of uncertainty, it gave us the freedom to make decisions, without being ordered to make them, on the basis of expert documents and well in advance of the Pohoda festival. → read more

„Unsung Heroes“ Paula Poštolková

„Unsung Heroes“ Paula Poštolková

IQ Magazine, the British bi-monthly for music professionals, added Paula Poštolková, the stage manager of our main stage, to their “Unsung Heroes” column. When we talk about fantastic "invisible" people in the background of culture in Slovakia, we mean our colleagues like Paula and many others. Paula is also the head of programme at Nová Cvernovka, has her own agency SPFM Spectakuläre Production & Fantastische Management, and works at other Slovak festivals as well. She said more about herself in an interview with Gordon Masson. → read more

May we not let them down — by Michal Kascak

May we not let them down — by Michal Kascak

I am not a supporter of the over-involvement of the state in culture. However, if the state has ever had a chance to show that it is not just an impersonal institution, it is happening now. How the state handles the current situation will directly impact how we will look at it in the long run after the coronavirus pandemic is over. At the same time, it is a chance to understand how much, despite temporary isolation, we depend on each other. We have a chance to understand how invisible relationships work in individual activities of people. In fact, the festival is a miniature of a society where people meet from cleaners, temporary workers, technicians, artists to top experts in medicine, technology, meteorology, and construction. And this is how the whole culture works. → read more

Pohoda included again in the selection of the best festivals in Europe

Pohoda appears again in the selections of the best events in Europe announced by several foreign media. The Daily Telegraph named the paragraph on our festival “Pohoda Party” and appreciated the friendly atmosphere, affordability, accessibility, as well as visual arts and debate alongside the music. Manchester Evening News and Sheerluxe.com have also reported on Pohoda in a similar manner. The Dutch Festileaks particularly praises an impressive collection of highly rated names. Pohoda was included again in the selection of the specialized portal Music Festival Wizard, where the author mentions that we are one of the most favourite festivals of their editor-in-chief. Liraz at Pohoda 2020

Liraz at Pohoda 2020

Visitors of Pohoda 2020 can look forward to seeing Iranian-Israeli singer, dancer, songwriter, and actress Liraz (having played in movies such as Fair Game and A Late Quarter, for example). In her musical project, Liraz combines modern sounds and beats of Los Angeles and Tel Aviv with ethnic flavors of her Persian / Tehran roots. In November she released the song Zan Beran – her personal statement on and call for gender equality. The pulsating electro-pop flavor of the track is the first taste of her upcoming second album, which will be released in late May and which Liraz will present on the Trenčin airstrip this summer.  → read more

Lola Marsh will complete their Slovak tour in September.

Lola Marsh will complete their Slovak tour in September.

Immediately after having to cancel the remainder of Lola Marsh’s Slovak concerts due to the public health situation surrounding COVID-19, we began working on new dates together with the band and the venues. Their special relationship with Slovak fans and the strong desire to return was also expressed in an emotional post on the band’s Facebook page following the cancellations. After quick negotiations with the agents and the venues, we were able to secure new concert dates for the end of September. Lola Marsh will perform on 25.9 in Trencin’s Piano Club, on 27.9 in Bratislava’s Refinery Gallery and on 28.9 in Mestke Divadlo in Žilina. As a support act, the rescheduled concerts will also feature talented Trenčin-based singer Nina Kohoutová. Tickets can be purchased at www.pohodafestival.sk/en/shop. → read more
