Boko Yout Bring Their Boundary-Breaking Afro-Grunge World to Pohoda 2026
At the 30th edition of the Pohoda festival, which will take place on July 8 & 9–11, 2026, at the Trenčín airport, we will also welcome the Swedish band Boko Yout – one of the most interesting and daring musical ensembles on the contemporary alternative scene.
27. January 2026
Led by the charismatic Paul Adamah, Boko Yout move freely between genres, creating their own sonic universe they call Afro-Grunge – a bold fusion of punk-funk rhythms, raw alternative rock textures and experimental elements. Their music feels like both a rebellion and a ritual: physical, spiritual, and deeply rooted in ideas of freedom, creativity and intentional living. Boko Yout are outsiders infiltrating the mainstream, uncompromising and impossible to ignore.
In September 2025, Boko Yout released their critically acclaimed debut album GUSTO. Conceived as a series of fictional therapy sessions with Dr. Gusto, the album dives head-first into themes of ego, identity, anxiety and artistic autonomy. Critics praised the album’s uniqueness and emotional intensity – Louder Than War awarded GUSTO a full five stars out of five, describing it as music that feels “familiar yet strange and strangely captivating,” while maintaining a depth and power rarely achieved on debut releases.
Beyond the studio, Boko Yout have quickly earned a reputation as one of Europe’s most electrifying new live acts. Even before the release of GUSTO, they were selected among the 15 nominees for the Music Moves Europe Awards 2025, placing them among the continent’s most promising and innovative projects. During their spring 2025 European tour – including 12 shows supporting Viagra Boys – they left a strong impression wherever they played. Rolling Stone Germany named them “Winners in the Energy Flash category,” while The Great Escape festival described their show as “the biggest, loudest and most original rough-cut diamond of the weekend.”
“I recently visited the Andrej & Andrej graphic studio, where Andrej, Andrej and Lukáš have been creating Pohoda’s visual identity for the second year now. They were playing great music – and that’s where I discovered Boko Yout. I was instantly blown away, and I’m really happy that just a few weeks later we’re able to announce them for Pohoda. I believe they’ll be just as powerful a discovery for many others – one you don’t forget,” says Michal Kaščák about how we came across Boko Yout and why we decided to book them.
Known for their intense, boundary-breaking performances that blur the line between concert, catharsis and performance art, Boko Yout closed 2025 with major arena shows supporting Viagra Boys in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Oslo and Helsinki, alongside their own headline performances across the Nordics.
In the summer of 2026, they will bring their uncompromising, unpredictable energy to Pohoda – expanding their world and inviting us right into the middle of it.
The 30th edition of Pohoda will feature performances by Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Lykke Li, IDLES, Danzel Curry, Oliver Tree, Baxter Dury, Apashe & Brass Orchestra, SOFT PLAY, Emilíana Torrini, Aldous Harding, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Penguin Cafe, Fanfare Ciocărlia, Annie & The Caldwells, Emma-Jean Thackray, Native James, Para, Gleb, Turtle Island, Fat Dog, KOIKOI, and many more.
For the first time this year, Pohoda will also include an Extra Day on Wednesday, 8th July 2026, with legendary The Cure, Scottish band The Twilight Sad, Ireland’s Just Mustard, and Denis Bango performing. Bango will perform songs from his project Fvck_Kvlt and the band Wilderness on the piano, just before The Cure’s performance. The Extra Day will also feature a late-night afterparty at Trenčín Airport. You can purchase a 4-day ticket (festival + The Cure), a 3-day ticket (Thursday to Saturday), or extend your 3-day ticket with the Extra Day. Find all the details and tickets here.
