We’ve announced the theatre program for Pohoda 2026
As Slovakia’s largest multi-genre festival, Pohoda once again proves that its program isn’t just about music. Every year, it also features theater, literature, film, visual arts, discussions, dance, and stand-up comedy. Theater performances are a cornerstone of the festival, and in 2026, Trenčín Airport will once again host a strong lineup of domestic and international productions.
23. March 2026
Among the new announcements is the original comedy Ach, kde mi miesto na zemi! (in translation Oh, Where Is My Place on Earth!) by Divadlo Ticho a spol. With humor and self-irony, the production explores the themes of Generation Y—a generation growing up with the conviction that they can be anything, yet at the same time facing uncertainty due to the multitude of possibilities. The retro comedy returns to the stage after many years, exclusively for the festival audience.
The Povalač Theater will pay tribute to the legendary duo Milan Lasica and Július Satinský with a performance of Our Friend René. This cult classic, brimming with satire and witty humor, is now brought to life by Juraj Kemka and Lukáš Latinák.
Generational issues will also be explored in the original production Požadujme nemožné (in translation Let’s Demand the Impossible) by the Peter Mankovecký Theater, created through a collaborative effort with students from the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. The performance straddles the line between physical theater and performance art, exploring themes of freedom, identity, and social expectations.
The musical comedy Happy End will be presented at Pohoda by the independent theater platform Uhol_92. The production combines relationship themes, ancient myths, and pop culture references, and humorously explores issues of feminism, masculinity, and the search for one’s own identity.
Also returning to the program is the Mykola Kulish Kherson Regional Academic Music and Drama Theater from Ukraine, which will present two powerful monodramas at Pohoda that reflect the reality of the war in Ukraine—One-Day Hero and The Bird in the Attic.
“I’m delighted by the impact theater has at Pohoda. This is also thanks to longtime dramaturge Alžbeta Vrzgula, who has been planning the theater program through 2025. It is symbolic that among this year’s theater performances we also have the Uhol_92 theater with its play Happy End. I am looking forward to commemorating Milan Lasica’s legendary Pohoda concerts—an artistic tribute to this wonderful man is the staging of the play Our Friend René, which he wrote and performed with Július Satinský. It is currently being performed—and excellently so—by Lukáš Latinák and Juraj Kemka. I believe many will also be delighted by the participation of the Peter Mankovecký Theater with the play Let’s Demand the Impossible featuring students from the Academy of Performing Arts, as well as the Ticho and Co. Theater with the play Oh, Where Is My Place on Earth!,” says festival director Michal Kaščák.
The return of the theater from Kherson will also be a highlight of the program. “I am particularly proud of the return of the Mykola Kulyš Theater from Kherson. Despite the fact that Kherson suffers daily terror at the hands of the Russian army, an incredibly prolific theater operates there under the leadership of Olexandr Knyha. Amid constant shelling of civilian targets, including several direct attacks on the theater itself, it stages nearly twenty premieres a year, holds creative workshops for children every weekend, and tours throughout Ukraine. “Beyond the art itself, this theater also demonstrates the power of culture and can serve as a powerful inspiration for cultural figures in Slovakia as well. Their two monodramas are a very powerful artistic response to the war that the Russian Federation is waging against Ukraine and the entire civilized world,” adds Kaščák.
Over three days (Thursday to Saturday), Pohoda 2026 will feature performances by Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Lykke Li, Denzel Curry, IDLES, Oliver Tree, Apashe & Brass Orchestra, Action Bronson, Emilíana Torrini, Baxter Dury, and many more.
For the first time in Pohoda’s history, there will also be a standalone Extra Day, featuring The Cure, The Twilight Sad, Just Mustard, and Denis Bango. For Wednesday – The Cure Extra Day, it is possible to purchase a single-day ticket or combine the experience with the full festival by buying a 4-day pass, which is currently the most cost-effective way to enjoy Pohoda in its entirety. Pohoda Festival will take place on July 8 & July 9–11, 2026, at Trenčín Airport.
