Marhule will showcase their uncompromising anti-punk at Pohoda
The Nitra-based band Marhule will make their debut at Pohoda, having built a reputation in recent years as one of the most distinctive and provocative bands on the domestic alternative scene. They will perform on the Garáž stage, from where they will “spread love” throughout Pohoda. This is the first selection by Denis Bango, who, together with Ľubo Šoška, is curating this stage for young Slovak talent again this year.

The trio from Nitra describe their style as antipunk, a raw and deliberately minimalistic approach that plays with and subverts traditional punk aesthetics. Their music thrives on repetition, rough edges and a peculiar mix of irony, humour and existential reflection.
“See. Love it or hate it. I understand both points of view. But I think there are more arguments for than against. And I dare say that the arguments against are based on logical fallacies, and the only thing one can really point to is that famous subjectivity,” says Denis Bango, the curator of the lineup for Pohoda, adding: “Hmm... Listening to a single Marhúl album can, without exaggeration, give you more than hours spent poring over most of the most famous philosophical works from the Enlightenment to contemporary derivatives of postmodern classics. Take it or go for a beer. There is no right choice.”
Their debut album Dno Dien confirmed that Marhule have little interest in chasing conventional musical “peaks.” Instead, the band dives deeper into stripped-down sound and primitive authenticity, exploring the strange beauty of imperfection. Their concerts reflect the same spirit—audiences might leave confused, offended, amused or delighted, often all at once.
At Trenčín Airport, audiences will encounter music that lives somewhere between provocation, humour and raw authenticity. Marhule prove that sometimes even a step backwards can still be a step somewhere.
Over three days (Thursday to Saturday), Pohoda 2026 will feature performances by Gorillaz, The Prodigy, Lykke Li, Denzel Curry, IDLES, Oliver Tree, Apashe & Brass Orchestra, Action Bronson, Emilíana Torrini, Baxter Dury, and many more.
For the first time in Pohoda’s history, there will also be a standalone Extra Day, featuring The Cure, The Twilight Sad, Just Mustard, and Denis Bango. For Wednesday – The Cure Extra Day, it is possible to purchase a single-day ticket or combine the experience with the full festival by buying a 4-day pass, which is currently the most cost-effective way to enjoy Pohoda in its entirety. Pohoda Festival will take place on July 8 & July 9–11, 2026, at Trenčín Airport.
