Dabako: The World Is Better When It Sparkles
This year at Ayvens Roller Disco, you’ll meet a creature who is more often found in spreadsheets than in the crowd. Behind the codename Dabako hides an accommodation alchemist whose mission is to find beds for around 500 artists from all over the world — the very people who create our beloved festival, its atmosphere, its magic, and the experience you'll be drawing inspiration from all year long.
In civilian life, she is a lover of crisis management in independent culture, punk, cabaret, and the town of Modra, a bookseller’s wife, and a devoted servant to two bulldogs, whom she lovingly obeys.
She first spent two years taming the backstage of the Literary Tent, and for the past four years has inhabited the mysterious realm between hotels, spreadsheets, and riders. Her job resembles a million-piece puzzle — except someone forgot to include the picture on the box. Fortunately, she is watched over by Monika and Barbie, beings whose capacity should be studied by neuroscientists. Amen.
For this set, however, Dabako swaps the office for the DJ booth, spreadsheets for glitter, and concentration for rhythm. Her alter ego is more extroverted, more sparkly, and mysterious enough that no one will immediately guess her age, social status, or the fact that she was actually born more for backstage than for the spotlight.
With this set, she invites you into a world of deliberate kitsch, glittering excess, parody, absurdity, and retro seduction — a place where there’s no need to be afraid of being a little too much: too shiny, too dramatic, too ridiculous, and too danceable. A place where no one grows old and where wit, love, and fun reign supreme — the very things that might just save the world. She loves diversity and chaos, so expect the unexpected.
Soul Bossa Nova, Beautiful Stranger, Hey Goldmember, and perhaps even Jiří Korn will convince you that shame is completely unnecessary baggage, and that loving cabaret, punk, glam, and the bizarre is a far better choice than playing it safe.
