From Boiler Room to the world's biggest festival stages, few artists have influenced club culture as profoundly as Panjabi Hit Squad. For decades, British duo Rav and Dee have been pioneers of a sound that bridges South Asian roots with contemporary dance music. Experience their high-energy DJ set at Pohoda 2026 on Saturday night in Curios City +18.
When it comes to artists who helped bring South Asian music to a global audience, Panjabi Hit Squad are among the first names that come to mind. A defining moment in their career came in 2023 when they partnered with Boiler Room for a landmark event in their hometown of Southall, West London. Celebrating community, cultural heritage and contemporary South Asian music, the event became a phenomenon, attracting more than 10 million views across social media platforms. The recording of the performance also became one of Apple Music's most-listened-to mixes.
The year 2024 further cemented their position on the international music scene. They sold out tours across North America, India, Australia, Dubai and the Netherlands, while also appearing at major festivals including Portola, Lowlands and Sunburn. Today, they are regular guests at leading clubs and festivals around the world.
Over the course of their career, they have released four studio albums and collaborated with artists including Mariah Carey, Ashanti, Beenie Man and Jay Sean. Another major milestone came when they became the first South Asian artists signed to the legendary Def Jam label. The move not only marked a breakthrough for the duo, but also helped raise the profile of an entire generation of artists connecting different musical and cultural worlds.
Their track Hai Hai earned recognition from legendary BBC Radio 1 presenter John Peel and went on to feature in film and television productions. Broadcasting has also played an important role in their career. From a successful show on BBC 1Xtra, they progressed to regular slots on BBC Asian Network, alongside guest mixes for stations such as NTS Radio, Rinse FM and SiriusXM.
