Slobodná Európa
Besides the great British punk names Slaves and Sleaford Mods, we will also have Slovak cult punk-rock band Slobodná Európa. The authors of the hits such as “Podvod”, “Unavený a zničený”, and “Analýza dokázala hovno” have been amusing the audience for nearly three decades. A month ago, they released their vinyl debut “Pakáreň”. Currently they do not give many concerts, so we are very excited to have them play at the 21st edition of Pohoda.

Band Slobodná Európa was founded at the end of 1989. The formation of Whisky, Sveťo Korbel, Braňo Alex, and Peter “Ozi” Hurtig released their debut “Pakáreň” in 1991. At that time, drummer Ozi was replaced by Ďuro Černý. The band gained immediate success especially on the Czech underground scene. Rock&Pop magazine described them as “the discovery of the year 1991”. In 1994, they released the second album “Unavení a zničení”. In that period, however, the famous “Sex&drugs&rock'n'roll” led to the recess of the band’s activity in 1995 (they never split officially). Over that time, Whisky made video clips for many bands and released his solo album “Whisky”.
The band got back together in February 2002 at Whisky’s wedding with Dorota Nvotová. The band then played at several summer festivals, and drummer Ďuro Černý was replaced by Tomáš “Tuleň” Vojtek. In May 2003, they released their third album called “Trojka”. In March 2006, the band released the fourth one called “Bestofka” (Best of album). The latest album so far, “Štvorka”, was released in 2014. The band has been around for almost thirty years; they have released 4 albums, about 13 video clips, played at about 900 concerts, caused at least 1,000 affairs and scandals, and created the myth of a punk&rock'n'roll legend; yet, they still hold on to ANALÝZA DOKÁZALA HOVNO... (The name of one of their most popular songs that translated as “THE ANALYSIS PROVED SHIT”).
They are currently planning to release all the albums on vinyl, the next one being the album “Štvorka” that will be roll out in the autumn. We often meet Whisky at the airport also during the preparation of the festival, when he flies over the festival grounds. We are glad that this time, he and his band will “land” also on one of our stages.
