03. June 2025
Drť is made up of musicians from Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The band performs with various male and a female vocalists depending on the focus of each album. In a special lineup with Fedor Gál, they released their third studio album Kruh alebo Špirála? in 2023, which went on to receive the Dominik Tatarka Award. The album’s intense sound, beyond the boundaries of conventional genres, tests the conscience of the era both before the 1989 revolution and today. The tracks are presented through the experience of Fedor Gál, who was born in 1945 in the Terezín concentration camp, became one of the leaders of the Velvet Revolution, and remains a civic activist, writer, and critical intellectual.
Their first album Puntičkár (2020) was created by setting to music an interview with the former head of the State Security Service, General Alojz Lorenc. The band’s second album, Minister, was released in May 2022 and was inspired by a “secret” recording of a conversation between former Minister of Finance Ján Počiatek and former Prosecutor General Dobroslav Trnka, recorded by Marián Kočner. Both albums were vocally performed by Michal Kaščák.
Their latest album, Drôtenky, was recorded with Zuzana Husárová, who also wrote the lyrics. Drť also recorded music for the documentary series Prísne tajné! (2022) about the State Security Service, and for the film Komúna (2020, dir. Jakub Julény).
At Pohoda 2025, they will perform in the lineup: Fedor Gál (vocals), Miroslav Tóth (baritone saxophone), Jan Faix (keyboards), and Marián Leskovský (drums).
