David Koller

David Koller is the fundamental member of the Czechoslovak music scene. Koller was first active in the alternative band Jasná páka and then played in bands Žentour, Pražský výběr, and Blue Effect. In 1987 he co-founded Lucie, one of the most successful bands of Czechoslovakia. In March 2015, he released the album ČeskosLOVEnsko and in April this year, the album brought him three statuettes from the Angel Award issued by the Czech Academy of Popular Music: for the best singer, best album and band of quarter-century (Lucie). Koller in several songs of his latest album criticises the tendency of the powerful to turn to the Communist past. “I would be happy if our government didnʼt draw us the east direction”, was his message during the ceremony of the Angel Award issued by the Czech Academy of Popular Music.

It is remarkable that as one of the most popular Czech artists, he is still socially active and uncompromisingly opposes totalitarianism in any form. He participated in the campaigns “S komunisty se nemluví” (You donʼt speak to communists) and “Nikagda nězabuděm” (I will never forget); most recently, he declared a boycott of the clubs and halls that organise concerts of the controversial Czech band Ortel, as the band endorses right-wing extremism. “If they want to earn on hatred, fear, and xenophobia, they are not going to earn on David Koller”, said his manager of this activity. His popularity in Slovakia is also evidenced by the fact that his video from Pohoda 2016 is one of the three most watched in the history of the YouTube channel of the Pohoda festival. At the Concert for the Attentive, he will play a set consisting of his songs and the biggest hits of band Lucie. The concert will also be a small bite of what fans can look forward to in his upcoming summer tour of Slovakia in 2022.

The Pau

Paulina performing under the name The Pau is an exceptional phenomenon on the Polish alternative scene. She performs alone, with an electric guitar and a mic. She records everything else on her own and stores it in her phone. With her modest behaviour, intense concerting and strong songs, she has gained many fans and in Poland she plays alongside the biggest names of the independent scene. She has released two albums and is working on a third one. “You see a girl with a guitar, and you hear a great band. I’m happy to see her total progress and growth. She fits nicely in a smoky club but she also deserves a festival stage and I know that she will dominate it.“ said Dáša fon Fľaša from the Hájovňa club in Žilina about The Pau; Paulina confirmed his words at this year’s Pohoda on the Ground.

The Wilderness

The Wilderness is a band that is an absolute proof that punk at its best is not dead. Great lyrics, excellent music and uncompromising attitudes make The Wilderness an essential band on the Slovak music scene. Their video for the song “Čo s tým hnevom” (also made at Pohoda 2018) was named the video of the year by Hudba.sk. They have three albums to their credit, of which the conceptually approached The Wilderness III stands out the In their lyrics they focus on political, religious and social-critical themes, philosophical and moral dilemmas, conflicts of subjective world view with objective reality. They are active in organizing concerts for other punk bands from all over the world under the Consume and die! crew. Since 2017, they have performed at three Pohoda festivals in a row, as well as at Pohoda in the Air and Pohoda on the Ground. In 2019, they also performed as part of the Slovak and Czech focus at the Eurosonic Noorderslag showcase festival.

DJ Mooshak

Vladimír “Potkan” Potančok alias DJ Mooshak is an experienced listener, a sporadic dancer, and an occasional DJ. After having graduated from ethnology and social anthropology, he is currently the editor of the magazine Slovenský národopis and the moderator of the radio program Hudba sveta on Rádio_FM. In 2015, he co-founded the World Music from Slovakia platform, later hosting the Percussion Festival and World Music Festival Bratislava. His sporadic DJing was replaced by a series of popular-science lectures on the unusual musical instruments Cverna v uchu in the Cabinet of Slowness (2018 – 2019) in Nová Cvernovka and later the regular opening of Elektrohafla evenings (2019 – 2020). At the Concert for the Attentive, Mooshak will perform on his home stage and is preparing an eclectic two-hour afterparty for visitors.

Parallel to the beginning of the Concert for the Attentive, the Drama hall of the Slovak National Theatre will host the White Crow award ceremony, starting at 5:11 pm. The award is given as an appreciation to people who are willing to defend truth and justice and have shown civic courage in concrete actions, suppressed personal interests in the name of public benefit, values or principles.
