Collosseum Club line-up at Pohoda on the Ground on Saturday, 10th July

On Saturday 10th July, the Collosseum club from Košice will bring to Pohoda on the Ground the bands Slobodná Európa, Čad, Catastrofy, Rozpor, the legend from Pilsen Znozectnost, and a DJ trio of band Tvoi! Postoi!. Obvious in their selection, Collosseum is a club focused mainly on punk, hardcore, metal, ska, reggae, alternative, and underground music. “These bands are closely connected to the club, the scene, and our fans. It is a melting pot of music ranging from rock’n’roll to metal. Although at first glance things appear diverse, when it comes to music, life attitudes, philosophy and “worldview” connect us closely,” said Vajgel from Collosseum about the booking.

SLOBODNÁ EURÓPA

The authors of the hits such as “Podvod”, “Unavený a zničený”, and “Analýza dokázala hovno” have been entertaining the audience for nearly three decades. The formation of Whisky, Sveťo Korbel, Braňo Alex, and Peter “Ozi” Hurtig released their debut “Pakáreň” in 1991. At that time, Ďuro Černý replaced drummer Ozi. The band gained immediate success especially on the Czech underground scene. In 1994, they released the second album “Unavení a zničení”. In that period, however, the famous “Sex&drugs&rock’n’roll” led to the recess of the band’s activity in 1995. The band reunited in February 2002 and played at several summer festivals, while the drummer was no more Ďuro Černý: Tomáš “Tuleň” Vojtek filled the spot. In May 2003, they released their third album called “Trojka”. In March 2006, the band went public with the fourth recording called “Bestofka”. The latest album so far, “Štvorka”, was released in 2014. The band has been around for almost thirty years; they have released 4 albums, made about 13 music videos, played at about 900 concerts, caused at least 1,000 problems and scandals, and created the myth of a punk&rock’n’roll legend, and they still hold on to ANALÝZA DOKÁZALA HOVNO... (the lyrics of one of their most popular songs that translates as “the analysis proved shit”). We often meet Whisky at the airport also during the preparation of the festival, when he flies over the festival grounds. We are glad to have him “land” again with the band on the Collosseum stage.

ZNOUZECNOST

Znouzectnost is a Pilsen legend with a punk reputation and the ability to write a pop song as well as a folk ballad. In a nutshell: 35 years on stage, on average one album every two years, and an all-encompassing motto: “We do not do what we do because we want to change the world. We do this so that the world does not change us. We make virtue out of necessity.” The band formed on the Pilsen scene in the 1980s as the successor to the band Zastávka Mileč. Peter Korál wrote about them for Rock & Pop: “What Znouzectnost produces can be described as melodic punk’n’roll. This is no avant-garde or ground-breaking experiments, but rather honest, decently done bigbeat.”

ČAD

Trash, grind or crust bands reap success in multi-genre polls just in Scandinavia and Finland. Yet this stereotype is challenged by Čad, a trio from Svätý Jur, which is one of the most successful artists in the history of Radio Head_Awards. At the end of summer 2017, they released album Bastard, which hudba.sk described as “Full of heavy darkness, as well as catchy punk rock rebellion. Their technical prowess and refined taste helped the crew produce the most interesting album of the year on the domestic hard & heavy scene.” After singer Baška took maternity leave, Čad consisting of Pišta, Valér and Kněží continue in a graceful ride through the mud and stench of the underground music. Their concerts are characterized by a crazy mixture of noise, rage, energy, and joy. The Walhalla portal describes their latest work, Zabi ma“The new piece is excellent and metal. It has quality sound, perfect production, and catchy songs that are decorated with great lyrics. Simply, after listening to it, I am totally full of metal joy in a combination of everything that ČAD have released and recorded so far, both in terms of lyrics and music. A great work of a mature Slovak band. Amen.” They are currently working on another album, so they may offer a tasting of it also at Pohoda on the Ground.

CATASTROFY

“Catastrofy is a mess, but funny,” the Rockpalace portal aptly wrote about this excellent thrash metal band from Devínska Nová Ves. Humorous insightful lyrics combined with some more critical pieces with a social overlap work as a properly lubricated machine. Extremely fast drums and guitars at their debut album as well as concerts are complemented by instruments such as fujara, mouth harp, tambourine, and stumpf fiddle. The Hlukoskop.sk portal wrote in a review of their sold-out concert in Trenčín: “Their ‘bandit’ thrash metal has got balls that even a rhino could envy! A first-class performance that literally broke the record in the amount of energy transferred (and also consumed).” In 2015, they debuted with album Zbojnícky tanec and in 2018 came out their second album Besnota. In the same year, they also had their premiere at Pohoda and at the beginning of July, they will return not only to the airport but also on stage after exactly one year. What visitors can expect from the concert after such a long break was explained by the band itself: “We are thoroughly preparing for it and we have chosen our biggest hits for folks, the so-called evergreens. We will even play a hit that we have never played live anywhere before.”

ROZPOR

If anyone is the embodiment of an anti-fascist attitude in music in Slovakia, it is the guys from band Rozpor. They were founded at the end of the nineties, and since then they have been uncompromisingly advocating against neo-Nazis in music and lyrics as well. We could hear their oi! and hard-core with occasional trips to ska or reggae genres also at Pohoda 2016. In the same year, they also released the fantastic album Radikálna ľudskosť. In May 2018, they went on Radikálne ľudské turné (radical human tour) to Roma settlements and this way they wanted to point out the great poverty of the lowest social classes, the problems of their coexistence with the majority population, and also prejudice, racism, and nationalism. Band’s Vít said about the tour: “Segregation will not help, things can only move forward through communication and targeted work with those groups of people. Racism and prejudice are also gaining ground due to the widening of the gap between Roma settlements and the outside world. The whole thing is a vicious circle.” You can find a detailed bio of the band on their website (http://rozpor.sk/biografia/), and they will showcase more at Pohoda on the Ground.

TVOI! POSTOI! DJ SET

The DJ trio of band Tvoi! Postoi! will entertain the fans of punk, oi, and ska music. Their DJ production will feature bands and songs that influence their work.
