Sam Heet Drevenák: Repropaganda, 2022  SK

The winning project of the Visual Art Contest at the Pohoda 2026 festival is Repropaganda by Samo Heet Drevenák. The project combines a public space installation with direct aid. It responds to the misuse of the letters "V" and "Z" as symbols of Russian military aggression and their transformation into tools of propaganda. Originally, these letters appeared on military equipment, before later spreading into public spaces, media, and propaganda campaigns. The author responds to this visual pollution with a gesture of solidarity — by removing both letters from the alphabet.

The project has previously been presented on the buildings of UMPRUM in Prague and the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague. At Pohoda, it will take two forms: an installation of a flagpole bearing a flag with an incomplete alphabet within the festival grounds, and the sale of original flags. Visitors will thus be able to purchase a piece of the artwork, with all proceeds going to a charitable organisation providing aid to Ukraine.

The author is a student at UMPRUM in Prague and works with the context of society, politics, and technology. In his works, he explores themes of identity, memory, and the influence of ideological and digital systems on the present day.
