Lúčnica

Lúčnica  SK

At Trenčín Airport, we will experience a performance that brings together folklore, stage mastery, and music that transcends the boundaries of tradition. The Lúčnica Artistic Ensemble will arrive at Pohoda 2026 with its Dance Ensemble, orchestra, and vocal group, presenting a programme enriched by the unmistakable music of composer Svetozár Stračina – one of the key creative figures who shaped Lúčnica’s distinctive artistic identity.

Stračina’s music has the rare ability to captivate even those who would not normally seek out folklore. Rooted in traditional music, his compositions gave Lúčnica’s stage works a unique emotional depth and a vivid, almost cinematic quality. His first encounters with Lúčnica and choreographer Prof. Štefan Nosáľ proved to be pivotal and defining moments in his artistic development.

At Pohoda, audiences will witness a dynamic mosaic of iconic dances filled with energy, emotion, and masterful stage poetics. Performed by more than sixty artists, folklore will transform into a powerful stage experience where tradition meets orchestral grandeur and precise choreography.

Since 1948, Lúčnica has symbolised the professional stage interpretation of Slovak folk art. Generations of students who have passed through the ensemble, together with the artistic leadership of Prof. Štefan Nosáľ, have created a phenomenon that has represented Slovakia in more than 60 countries around the world.

In a programme rich with the work of Svetozár Stračina, these qualities come together to present folklore as a living, contemporary, and remarkably compelling art form. At Pohoda, this will not be just a folklore performance, but a stage production that reminds us why music and dance are universal languages that need no translation.
