On Saturday night at Pohoda, DJ and producer Effy will breathe new life into classic techno and acid house with a modern touch. One of the most interesting young talents on the UK electronic scene, she has already supported the likes of Helena Hauff, Scuba, Honey Dijon, and Peggy Gou.
Effy grew up in the northwest of England, near Blackpool, with her teenage years shaped by the sounds of electronic music giants like The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy, and Pendulum. She first learned to DJ using her boyfriend’s turntables, gradually turning her childhood love of songwriting into looping and sampling, before making the leap to Logic and fully diving into creating and producing her own creations.
She made her debut in 2020 with a series of euphoric singles "Fluffy Clouds", "Ara", and "Bodied". In 2022, she released the EP Not What It Seems, led by the single "Not Yours"—a kind of anthem of female empowerment, which also lent its name to her own label and club night.
After the EP Highest Level (2023), Effy teamed up with Mall Grab in 2024 to release "iluv", her most successful single to date. One of her career highlights so far include being selected as one of Pete Tong’s Future Stars in 2021 and maintaining a residency at The Warehouse Project.
Effy is using her position on the dance scene to highlight female musicians, and through her club night Not Yours, she sends a clear reminder that women belong to no one.
