Shortparis at Pohoda 2019

Shortparis at Pohoda 2019

Pohoda 2019 will also feature the Siberian-Saint Petersburg avant-garde band Shortparis. Their music is somewhere between dark electro, post-punk or noise; in the live version, in addition, combined with performative-theatrical acts. Mary Anne Hobbs, the DJ of BBC 6 played at Ment after them and said that Shortparis totally blew her mind. John Doran of The Quietus says they are the band you still dream of meeting once, but it rarely happens. In the number of superlatives he says that they are ambitious, bombastic, incredibly spectacular, exciting... Gigwise or Louderthanwar journalists have also praised them highly and we believe they will soon impress the Slovaks.

Shortparis blur the boundaries between genres and break down stereotypes. Arabic inscriptions don’t mean terrorism, nor do shaved heads represent neo-Nazism. When they attempted to point out these issues in a video for their latest song, “Страшно” (Scary), the police got an anonymous tip for potential terrorism. Journalists from Gigwise and Louderthanwar have already praised them, and Lithuanian Devilstone writes that they haven’t had such a gripping and addictive name in their line-up in a long time. Last year, the organizers of Ment expressed similar thoughts on their account. They confirmed all the praise at the Concert for the Attentive and they’ll convince the Trenčín Airport visitors of their qualities in three months.
