Other foreign media about Pohoda 2018

In addition to the British media, such as The Independent and Gigwise, and media from our neighbouring countries, other journalists from around the world praised Pohoda 2018 in their reviews. We recently shared a great review of the American portal Music Festival Wizards. Today, we continue with the reviews of the Belgian portal Humo, Dutch OOR and Reishonger, and the Brazilian festival portal for Projetopulso.

13. August 2018

Projeto Pulso

One of the most comprehensive and most praising reviews of Pohoda was written by Por Franklin Costa for the Brazilian portal for festivals, Projeto Pulso:

“Pohoda is the largest and most important artistic and music festival in Slovakia. It is so important that its last edition was also visited by the president of the country. But that is not what is important.” The review continues: “It was the cleanest festival we have ever been to. Hardly can you find any mote on the ground.”

“The waste collection system is flawless, visitors pay for reusable cups and the festival hands out portable ashtrays. Pohoda also won the Green Operations Award in 2017 for sustainability of its production.”

“Although all of this is very important—#respect! —that is not the important part.”

“Important is that the Pohoda festival is done with heart.”

“Pohoda means in Slovak “peace, calm, satisfaction.” And that is exactly what it brings.”

“While Carol and I were there, we felt this rare, almost mystical energy that only an extraordinary festival could bring.”

The next section of the review was titled “The Difference between a Corporate Festival and a Festival Made with Heart.” Pohoda was included in the second category with these words: “Unlike corporate festivals, brands do not scream for attention here. They are part of the public service.” The authors also praised a great mix of artists that “does not feature just the hottest artists surrounded with a “foam” of names written with smaller and smaller font on the poster as if you were undergoing an examination at the ophthalmologist; it is a complete high quality line-up that included popular and not so famous names that one enjoys discovering.

Music Festival Wizards (100 nights of summer)

“The innovative Pohoda Festival continues to impress with a weekend of blessed out vibes in the Slovakian countryside. Nestled in the castle-topped rolling hills, the local airport is transformed into a musical mecca of acts from around the world. Vito Valentinetti discusses in his comprehensive review various aspects that make Pohoda exceptional, and he concludes is with these words: “If I haven’t convinced you to check out Pohoda with my previous reviews (auth. note: this is his third review), then I’m not doing my job right.”

HUMO

“You feel like you find yourself on the former grounds of the Dour festival, but the atmosphere is rather like the Best Kept Secret (NL) or End Of The Road (GB) boutique festivals. With its 30,000 visitors, it is similar to Best Kept, and a wide range of art, literature, and accompanying activities brings it closer to the Southern British festival,” says Belgian portal Humo about Pohoda in the first of two reviews.

In the second part (on the third day), the authors add: For the beginning, let us share a few observations. Of all the clean festivals we have ever visited, Pohoda is the cleanest. There is not a piece of paper in the whole festival area. The fact that they really mean it is also confirmed by numerous recycling stations. They also add an extra step: smokers are asked not to drop cigarette ends on the ground “as someone will have to pick them up for you”, which also works subconsciously. Never before have we held our cigarette ends for as long as we found a trash can.”

OOR

No less positive about Pohoda is the review by the Dutch music portal OOR: “We become aware of the fact that Pohoda 2018 is definitely unforgettable at the concert for welcoming the sun delivered by a Gypsy band at five in the morning. Festival visitors are moving with plants, dancing and clapping their hands, while the sun begins to light up the hills around the festival. Enchanted with this situation, we simply conclude: This festival is big enough, it offers a lot to choose from and pampers the audience that is glad to go mad with joy and is open to all new artists.” Finally, the authors add: “Sit on a plane for Vienna, pass Bratislava, go to Trenčín and immerse yourself into this special festival. You will sleep very little but you will not regret it.”

Reishonger

The Dutch travel portal Reishonger summed up this last June the 5 reasons for “Why should you put Pohoda on your festival list?” In the review after Pohoda, they say that there definitely are more reasons to do so and that they hope they will be welcomed again in the very cosy living room of Pohoda. They commented the schedule with: “We were going from one show to another, entering different musical periods. We were so busy exploring the great programme that Pohoda offers that we have not even been able to visit some stages. If it were just for roller disco and silent disco, we must return to Pohoda!

Festileaks

One more Dutch website for festivals says: “In addition to strong headliners and a varied accompanying programme, the success of Pohoda 2018 is primarily the result of a pleasant atmosphere.”
