One of Ukraine’s Top Contemporary Bands, ONUKA, to Perform at Pohoda 2025
ONUKA is a Ukrainian electro-folk band founded by singer, multi-instrumentalist, and composer Nata Zhizhchenko, and musician, composer, producer, and director Eugene Filatov, also known for his solo project The Maneken. Their signature fusion of traditional Ukrainian music and electronic sounds will be showcased at Pohoda 2025.

While Eugene is responsible for the band’s distinctive sound, Nata is the face and soul of the project. What makes ONUKA unique is their blend of electronic drums and winds with traditional Ukrainian instruments such as the bandura and sopilka—instruments that nearly disappeared during the Soviet era. Their self-titled debut album Onuka (2014) shot to the top of the Ukrainian iTunes charts. Two years later, they released the successful EP Vidlik, which includes the title track as well as 1986—a song referencing the Chernobyl disaster, in whose cleanup the singer’s father took part.
This was followed by the albums MOZAЇKA (2018) and KOLIR (2021), the latter featuring the now-iconic track Zenit. On 21 June 2019, the summer solstice, Zenit was played simultaneously at noon on 15 radio stations across Ukraine.
Their most recent album, ROOM (2023), has become a therapeutic recording for the band. It offers a sort of release for the entire Ukrainian nation—delivering gentle, introspective music intended to support self-reflection and spiritual healing. It contains 10 captivating tracks, including strong singles like DUSHA NARODU (Soul of the Nation) and PEREMOHA (Victory). Each track is dedicated to Ukrainian men and women facing life challenges caused by war. The track PEREMOHA is an ode to Ukrainian soldiers and heroic volunteers, reflecting their spirit and resilience in a chilling and powerful sound.
ONUKA’s live performances offer refined dramaturgy and a unique atmosphere. Vocals, keyboards, percussion instruments, brass section, as well as experimental instruments and traditional instruments such as sopilka, ocarina, bandura, cimbalom, trembita, and bugai—you’ll experience all of this live at the Trenčín Airport.
“"I believe that we can change the world through music, so lets sound louder than ever. I hope that each listening brings us closer to Victory, because Music Unites, Heals, Saves, Sacrifices, and Triumphs.” Nata Zhizhchenko said in 2023, and we can’t disagree.
