Music and dance in Family park at Pohoda 2019

Children have a stage at Pohoda that adults may be envious about. Music, theatre, dance, workshops, and many other activities will be available from morning to evening. This year, you can look forward to both totally news things and established artists as well. Laci Strike and his Street Dance Academy or the energy packed Roma ensemble Savorenge will make kids dance. Brand new songs for children will be introduced by all-star band Toddler Punk, we will listen to our “fixed stars” Children’s folk ensemble Kornička, the orchestra of the Trenčín Primary Art School and the Piarissimo choir; the Recycled Orchestra has prepared a noisy interactive happening on instruments made from waste. And that’s just the music part of the programme...

Savorenge

Savorenge is a choir of the Primary School with the Hungarian language from Moldava nad Bodvou. Its creation was inspired by the experience of the performance of Čhavorenge, a Czech Romani children choir conducted by singer Ida Kelarová. The interest in joining the choir was huge and so it gradually grew to 50 members. In addition to the choir, a group of music students of the local school of art formed into a music band. Savorenge first performed in public in December 2018 at a Christmas concert, and this last April, they were invited by the American Embassy to perform in Bratislava on the occasion of the International Romani Day. Savorenge also sang to the Slovak President, Mr. Kiska. Thanks to the invitations to perform, these Romani children gain extremely powerful experience and have the opportunity to get to know the world and break the barriers of segregation motivated by the generation poverty of the settlement they come from.

Toddler Punk

Writers and musicians, too, are parents who do care what kind of books their children read and what music they listen to. And so, they create songs and fairy tales. Toddler Punk is a newly formed band for children from 3 to 10 years of age, their parents, and fans of quality music. Most of the music and lyrics were written by Ľuboš Kukliš of the band Diego. The co-author of the music is musicologist and journalist Oliver Rehák; lyrics were co-authored by Monika Kompaníková, who also wrote a thematically linked collection of fairy tales.

Toddler Punk was joined by some other musicians, members of the bands Diego and Billy Barman, who were interested in making music for children: Jozef Vrábel (bass guitar), Tomáš Vagaský (guitar), Jakub Tvrdík (keyboards), and Matej Ruman (drums). The songs of Toddler Punkʼs first album feature also guest singers: Juraj Benetin, Tomáš Sloboda, Dorota Nvotová, and others.

The Orchestra of the Trenčín Primary Art School and the Piarissimo choir

The Chamber Orchestra of the Trenčín Primary Art School has over 50 years of history and is currently conducted by the conductor Alena Piatková. The Choir of the Piarist Grammar School of Jozef Branecký in Trenčín, Piarissimo, was founded in 1990. In 1999, the regular choir became a classical mixed choir, interpreting polyphonic secular and spiritual compositions of various style periods, from Gregorian chorales through Renaissance and Baroque to contemporary modern spiritual and secular music.

Childrens folk ensemble Kornička

Children's folklore ensemble Kornička was founded in 1999. Initially a small group, the ensemble grew over the years and today has approximately 140 members aged 6 to 16 coming from Trenčín and its surrounding municipalities. It is dedicated to learning and collecting material exclusively from the boroughs of the area of Trenčín. The emphasis is on mastering the principles of dance, singing, music, and the natural expression of children. During its relatively short 20-year existence, the ensemble has become a significant representative of the region at the most important Slovak folk festivals (Východná, Myjava, Detva...), as well as at many festivals abroad.

Laci Strike & SDA: STRIKEMAN

Visitors to the Family Park will enjoy an interactive show full of dance and music delivered by Laci Strike and dancers from the Street Dance Academy.

Children can look forward to a fun dance school and loads of competitions. They will learn the names of various dance styles and the differences between them. The aim of the programme is to remember the importance of moving for health and to motivate kids to move from an early age.

The Street Dance Academy is well-known for its contagious family atmosphere that spreads easily among spectators. Come and dance.

Recycled Orchestra: Beatbox

Beatbox? What is Beatbox? A box for beating, right? Or isnʼt it? An interactive concert and a great noisy happening with children who made their way to the Tent full of music over the two days and have made their musical instruments there. The instruments are made from waste, creating a unique Recycled Orchestra.
