Massive Attack are the first name for Pohoda 2027. They’ll play on Thursday, 8 July
The first name announced for Pohoda 2027 is Massive Attack. One of the most influential bands in British music will perform at Pohoda on Thursday, 8 July 2027 – two years after they had to cancel their planned show at Pohoda 2025 due to health issues. We believe that this time, we’ll get to enjoy Massive Attack in full force.

“It’s symbolic that we’re starting the 2027 artist announcements by keeping the promise we and Massive Attack made to people in 2025. I really appreciate how the band and their agency have approached this commitment. Massive Attack are such an essential band that they simply have to play Pohoda...:) I’m glad it’s only nine months away,” says Michal Kaščák.
Music that changed the face of electronic music
Massive Attack formed in 1988 in Bristol, England, and are among the pioneers of trip hop – a genre that merged hip-hop beats, electronics, soul, dub and a dark atmosphere into a distinctive sound.
Their 1991 debut album Blue Lines, featuring Unfinished Sympathy, is still regarded as one of the most important records in British electronic music. It was followed by Protection and the cult classic Mezzanine (1998), which brought tracks such as Teardrop, Angel and Inertia Creeps. Thanks to the unmistakable vocals of Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, Teardrop became one of the band’s most iconic songs. Their music has influenced entire generations of producers and still sounds as captivating today as when it was first released.
The band is led by Robert “3D” Del Naja and Grant “Daddy G” Marshall. Yet their work has never been just about music. Massive Attack have long connected art with social issues, and their concerts feature striking visual projections that reflect world events, the climate crisis and human rights. Their shows are an intense audiovisual experience in which hypnotic rhythms and a dark atmosphere meet urgent messages.
The return we’ve been waiting for
Massive Attack were scheduled to play Pohoda 2025, but had to cancel shortly before the festival due to health issues. Their slot was taken by Africa Express, led by Damon Albarn, who brought an exceptional musical meeting of artists from all corners of the world to Pohoda. As a special surprise for Pohoda, they also played a cover of Teardrop by Massive Attack – one of the best-known songs by the Bristol visionaries.
Massive Attack are the first name announced for Pohoda 2027, and their return will be one of the highlights of next year’s programme. And we can already reveal that on Thursday, 29 October, we’ll announce another Pohoda 2027 headliner. There’s a lot to look forward to!
