Hollie Cook

Her father is the drummer of the Sex Pistols, her mother was a vocalist of the Culture Club, and the lead singer of this band, Boy George, is her godfather. Hollie Cook developed her inherited talent in the punk band The Slits and has collaborated with artists such as Ian Brown, Jamie T, and Prince Fatty. It was with the latter one that she recorded her debut album "Hollie Cook" in 2011, and BBC called it one of the most enjoyable reggae albums of the year 2011. We will have her pleasant music at the 20th edition of Pohoda.

Hollie grew up listening to the music of artists such as Marc Bolan, David Bowie, and The Cure. In 2006, she went on tour with The Slits. In was in this band where, besides the role of a vocalist and keyboard player, she first was also an author of a song ("Cry"). In 2010, she started cooperation with the producer Mike "Prince Fatty" Pelanconi. Her passion for reggae music of singers Janet Kay and Phillis Dillon so popular in the vocal bands of the 60s was transformed into a particular style that she herself calls "Tropical Pop". Her debut "Hollie Cook" was rated four stars out of five by the Dutch De Telegraf. Her second album "Twice" received the rating of eight out of ten by the Boston Globe, Mojo, and Exclaim. Thanks to numerous live performances in media (Later ... with Jools Holland, KEXP, BBC...), at concerts, and festivals around the world, she won even more important popularity with her fans. The next stop of Hollie Cook will be the airport in Trenčín.
