Ghost of you

Another amazing band from Czechia confirmed for this year’s Pohoda is Ghost of you. This export article of the Czech music scene has more than 200 gigs under their belt, including shows played at the biggest Czech festivals, a series of concerts in London or a gig at Sziget festival as winners of “Jednou ranou na Sziget” competition. This young indie pop band is influenced by psychedelia, electronic music and math rock. Also, Brno is not that far from Trenčín, where you’ll get a chance to see them and listen to their music at the beginning of July.

It started in the summer of 2012 as an experimental project founded by young musicians. Delicate vocals and melancholic melodies gradually evolved into psychedelic indie pop with relentless rhythms. Their first EP named Ocean K came out in March 2013. It was well-received even by a Canadian website dontspreadbullshitspreadmusic.com. Radio Wave featured the track “Somewhere in the Drop of Your Miracle” in their Startér broadcast and the song made it to #2 in the charts. A video for the song was also broadcast on TV Óčko. In the early 2014, the band played a Radio Wave Live Session. Later, they provided soundtrack to a silent movie at the 40th edition of Summer Film School in Uherské Hradiště. What followed were concerts at Sázavafest, Radio Wave showcase, as well as a Prague concert commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution and many more.

Their debut Glacier and the City was released in the autumn of 2015 via Indies Scope. Both album and the subsequent tour received rave reviews; particularly, the show they put on at Nouvelle Prague showcase festival in 2015. This helped the band present their show full of energy at the festivals such as Eurosonic (NL), Donauinselfest (AT), Grape (SK), Colours of Ostrava (CZ), Rock for People (CZ), Metronome festival (CZ) or IFF Karlovy Vary (CZ). They played a series of concerts in London in September 2016. “The zest with which they get down to playing concerts catapults them into the list of most interesting acts on the current young Czech scene,” Ondřej Selner wrote about the band for musicserver.cz. See for yourself at Pohoda 2017.
