Experience Healing Power With the Female Group Neha! at Pohoda
The vocal group Neha! is made up of six women who joined forces to bring beauty, gentleness, and compassion into the world through music, believing that tenderness (“neha” in Slovak) is essential for society. Their primary instrument is the voice, with which they create rich harmonies of traditional songs from Slovakia, Eastern Europe, and many other corners of the world. In their music, you’ll find contrasts – softness and wildness, serenity and passion, sensitivity and strength. This unique female world music ensemble comes from Slovakia and was formed in 2020. Neha! began performing live the following summer at popular festivals and events such as Letná slávnosť na Sekierskych lúkach, HippieJam, or Street Art Festival in Piešťany.
In 2022, the state of the world called them to sing for peace. They gave six concerts in support of Ukraine. That year, Neha! also performed nearly 30 other concerts and began to get used to larger, more professional stages. At one of these concerts, conductor and music producer Anton Popovič attended and soon after joined Neha! as an artistic supervisor. His professional insight has since helped shape the group’s creative direction.
In 2023, Neha! was invited to a residency and the Aux Heures d’Été festival in France. They spent 11 days in the enchanting town of Nantes, performing a number of beautiful concerts.
This April, they released their debut album Svetu (“To the World”), featuring ten traditional songs from around the world arranged in multi-vocal harmonies. With this album, Neha! sends a message to the world and all listeners: music has the power to heal, connect, and change the world.
One of the group’s most powerful experiences so far was the Radikálne nežná (“Radically Tender”) tour in eastern Slovakia. In October 2023, Neha! visited four Roma settlements, following in the footsteps of the punk band RozpoR and their Radikálne ľudská (“Radically Human”) tour. The aim was to bring music to places most people avoid.
Neha! creates space for improvisation in their performances and explores the boundary between audience and performer. The singers invite the audience into the improvisation, breaking down the traditional barrier of the stage. They experiment with various performative elements to deepen the experience.
The group Neha! was selected as part of the Garage project, run in partnership with European Capital of Culture Trenčín 2026. The Garage is a platform for young bands and emerging voices looking to find their path to audiences. It forms part of the long-term efforts of Trenčín 2026 to support the music scene.
