Dance workshops at Pohoda 2023

Delicious to the eye, fascinating in movement creativity, captivating in rhythm, unforgettable in experience - these are all attributes associated with the NAY Dance House (NAY tanečný dom) that will get your blood pumping and your body dancing. This interactive music and dance concept hosts leading figures from the national and international dance scene every year. The aim is to make traditional and non-traditional dance accessible to a wide audience. Year after year, workshops are held to show that the living heritage is still alive in us and thanks to us.The pieces created exclusively for our festival (the so-called Pohoda_born) also have a permanent place. We are excited to see what the Morong family, who have long been involved in the dramaturgy of NAY Dance House's daytime programme, has in store for us this year.

Clip dance: Central Cee / Doja
This year again you can look forward to the popular Clip dance format. The workshop will be based on the viral Doja clip of one of our headliners this year, Central Cee. So you'll be fully prepared for Central Cee's performance. Workshop is led by Spunkey BKP.

K-POP
K-Pop
is a worldwide phenomenon and this year it will be represented at Pohoda in the form of this dance workshop, but also in the form of a musical performance by the band LEENALCHI. Get ready for their concert with this workshop led by 20-year-old talented teacher Oleg.

Flitre v rytme "hra Rukami nohami"
What could be better than a combination of laughter, fun and dancing? This year too, the popular and original movement creations of Petra Polnišová and Laco Cmorej will not be missing in the "stand up dance comedy".

Ostrov Pohody
(Pohoda Island)
The outstanding singer Štefan Štec and his band Fajta, proud representatives of the Rusyn culture, will create an atmosphere of Pohoda Island full of positivity, whose GPS is located in Slovakia in Trenčin, but which mentally navigates us beyond the common border with war-torn Ukraine. An island where we believe that we can defeat evil with good, sorrow with joy, and cruelty with humanity... The intention is to remind us how precious and fragile is the solid ground under our feet when the world around us is crumbling, and how important is the strength of the roots when the wind destroys everything in its way.

Hranica
(The Border)
In 2023 we celebrate 30 years of Slovak independence. 30 years since when crossing the border with the Czech Republic means being abroad. Dancing to the music and singing of Petr Mička, we will be transported to a time when such borders did not exist. František and Barbora Morong will teach you the typical aesthetics and partner interplay of the dances from the Horňácko and Kopanice regions. They will show you that the traditional culture has the strength and power to unite even the divided.

Verbunkovo - Karičkovo - Čardášovo
On Friday afternoon we offer you a unique trio of lively dances from Zemplín. The dance floor of the Nay Dance House will be dominated by the superb Verbunk dance. The name of the dance derives from the word werben – to recruit, to gain – and dates back to the time when men were lured into the imperial army by dancing. Join Vlado Kendra to find out the hidden appeal of this dance and see if it can win you over too. The attraction for ladies is the Karička dance from Parchovany with Mariana Svoreňová. The uniqueness of the dance is proven by its inclusion in the representative list of the intangible cultural heritage of Slovakia. And to top it all off, the Parchovany czardas will be the icing on the cake. The dance music will be in the skilled hands of Matej Topoľovský from Parchovany.

Z Kubánkova do Nosáľova
The dance workshop Z Kubánkova do Nosáľova is a symbolic tribute to two exceptional personalities (Juraj Kubánek, Štefan Nosáľ) who have significantly influenced the folklore movement in Slovakia and made our country visible all over the world. Experience the power of the traditions of the Liptov and Podpoľanie regions, where they grew up and which they proudly represented throughout their lives, both personally and through their artistic work.
