14. May 2021

Club 69's dramaturgy reflects our community. We wanted to present as many artists as possible on behalf of Trnava, who have been helping us from the beginning, giving us a smile at the bar and collaborating on projects, all to deliver the greatest possible experience. That's why we have chosen well-known names from Trnava as well as lesser-known underground artists, but equally deserving of the audience's attention. In this way, we are giving back to our community what we received from it in the beginning,” said Viktor Drábek about the booking of the Club 69.

THE WILDERNESS

The Wilderness is a band that is an absolute proof that punk at its best is not dead. Great lyrics, excellent music and uncompromising attitudes make The Wilderness an essential band on the Slovak music scene. Their video for the song “Čo s tým hnevom” (also made at Pohoda 2018) was named the video of the year by Hudba.sk. They have three albums to their credit, of which the conceptually approached The Wilderness III stands out the most. The last released record is the EP 2015. In their lyrics they focus on political, religious and social-critical themes, philosophical and moral dilemmas, conflicts of subjective world view with objective reality. They are active in organizing concerts for other punk bands from all over the world under the Consume and die! crew.

SUBTENSION

Mário Dočekal has been performing under the pseudonym Subtension since 2012. However, he has been involved in music for longer (previously in the Soundnbeats project). As Subtension he managed to make his mark in the history of well-known drum & bass labels worldwide, such as Ram Records, Critical Music, Neosignal, Renegade Hardware, Cause 4 Concern or Invisible (VISION), which is run by Noisia. His tracks regularly appear in mixes by names such as Pendulum, Amon Tobin, Ed Rush and Camo & Krooked. The Nestbox EP topped the charts for best-selling drum & bass releases. In 2019, Subtension won the Radio_Head Awards for Best Electronic Record of 2018. In 2020, he recorded a solo EP Tom Yum on UK label Flexout, and in addition, released a 2-track single with German drum & bass star Phace in February. In March 2021 Subtension again released a single on the NEU label, and is currently running a modern music school LFO.sk in addition to producing and DJ-ing.

BOY WONDER

Boy Wonder is a Slovak rapper and producer also known as a member of BoyBand with Idea, of duo Ladyboys and the group Turbo Boost. In 2012, he released his debut album Špinavý poet and shortened the long wait for the sequel for his fans with his collaborations and tracks such as Pandúri, Stále vládze, Prekrásny Nový Svet, Ukáž mi lásku, Chvíľu Šťastní or his latest single from October last year called Život je Lajf. In 2020, he released the project LADYBOYS with producer and Dj Kansiik. He will perform at Pohoda on the Ground festival together with Dj Kansiik. They will play selection of their work, the most popular tracks, which will include a block of featured tracks, remakes of songs in the form of mashups and, of course, singles that were released during the pandemic and there has not yet been a possibility to present them live. By the way, the guys promised to bring the band LADYBOYS on stage as well ;)

FVCK_KVLT

Fvck_Kvlt is a project of Denis Bango from the Trnava punk band The Wilderness. All music is 100% DIY. From beats to recording to the final master. The first album Kvlt Teachings and with it the arrival on the scene came in November 2019. That was followed by several singles and first gigs. In October 2020, the second album Zabijem sa! was released, and it was also nominated for album of the year. The EP Commercial Mainstream Nihilism Part I: KVLT RADIO has been released recently, the follow-ups to which will culminate in the third album. He will be backed by Paris and DJ Kabal (KVLT_CREW) during the show.

STOLEN STREET

The Trnava band Stolen Street was formed in 2014. Guitarist Petr Šimončič is accompanied by Michal Horský on vocals and bass guitar, Filip Jankovič on keyboards and Marek Kurňava on drums. The boundaries are blurred in the work of this alternative band, but they are closest to indie rock. They are also inspired by elements of psychadelic rock, britpop, electronica, grunge, punk and basically any combination of genres that catches their ear. In 2019, the band released the single Revolutionized and in October 2020, the first music video for the track Million Reasons was released. They are characterised by their DIY / punk approach and are currently finishing recording their debut EP.

VKTRD & MARTIN LETTLER

Viktor Drábek aka VKTRD is one of the dramaturgs of the club 69 in Trnava. As VKTRD, he turns the mirror on elements that seem to be impossible to connect together in this part of the world. Sampled beats on one side and deep bass from London spiced with R&B bits on the other side. Genres have no limits. Turntablism crossing into live-act. The selections he's been collecting on vinyl since 2015 are in the club waters of dubstep, electronica, hip-hop and downtempo. He also presented his selections at the Lovely Experience festival from the balcony of the theatre in the town square. With his crew Sub:tearz, they played at the Outlook festival celebrating soundsystem culture in Pula, Croatia. In the last two years, he has been working closely with the Ajlavmjuzik label, at events Ajlavmjuzik najt and online events Ajlavmjuzik stream, where he has a residency together with founder and DJ MtotheG.

Martin Lettler has been on the DJ scene since 2016 and is a member of the Sub:tearz crew, who have taken it upon themselves to present UK bass music in the local area. His formative denominator has been electronica, but each genre in his collection represents a mood and atmosphere that he experiments with by genre switching. At Pohoda on the Ground he will be swimming mainly in the waters of UK bass, techno and dubstep.

EMA LANČARIČOVÁ AND ERVÍN GEJDOŠ

Visual design (stage design, accompanying programme – exhibitions, workshops, discussions).

Ema Lančaričová is a visual artist, working mainly with analogue photography. Her work is based on philosophical context and experimental approach. Workshops are a way for her to bring some of these approaches to people – whether historical photographic techniques or new ways of working with analogue photography.

Project Utopia:

In Utopia, she links the literal translation of the word utopia from the Greek οὐ (not) and τόπος (place), meaning “no place” or non-existent place, with the philosophy of photography. She points to the fact that the constellation that the photographer captures is a mixture of four-dimensional space, the quantity of time and the flow of light. As a result, she transforms the existence of objects and subjects into a photographic record. The central motif of the work is the column as a basic building element. Repetitiveness refers to an inexhaustible set of possibilities of capture but at the same time accompanies from the still image to the tiny record of movement to the video. Polaroid photographs affirm the existence of the depicted colonnade. Despite the affirmation of reality, I continue to toy with the fragile boundary of capturing reality, where I create my own model of the column and its fabricated environment. The frozen time in the photographs is as if imprisoned, it has no possibility of return or progression and therefore the photographed segment of time and place can be understood as no place, no time. The resulting thesis of this project is the recognition that photography is a utopia in itself. It is an idealised state.

Ervín Gejdoš is a designer working in the Trnava studio Pargamen.

About the pair:

Ema and Ervín have created several visual projects together. The freshest of them is the book Ramble Trnava offering a specific bookish design and over 80 analogue photographs of overlooked urban corners of Trnava.

The Human Sovereignty exhibition featured the installation You.jpeg – a lens that no one and everyone disagreed with. The lens was embedded in a so-called black box with which the visitor was confronted. The lens reacted to movement – it recorded each visitor and then sent the photo to the cloud. This process is familiar to everyone, but few people think about what is going on in the background and what the physical representation of the cloud is. This is what satellite images of data centres from different continents, where this data is stored and overflowing, tried to illustrate. Thus, a person, or a record of a person, can be in different places at any one time, owned by institutions and individuals without their control or knowledge.

Mermade offers arts and crafts objects based on an experimental approach to analogue photographic techniques.
