C Duncan
C Duncan is a young Scottish indie-folk composer, artist, singer and multi-instrumentalist. His debut Architect (2015) was nominated for the Mercury Prize. In October, he released his second album The Midnight Sun. According to The Line of Best Fit, he eclipses all expectations and the album received 9 out of 10 points. The versatile and talented graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland will be playing his meticulous work at Pohoda 2017.

“Once I start something, I don’t start anything new until I finish,” says C Duncan in Helen Plumb’s short documentary as he paints one of his perfectionist works (he also painted artwork for his albums). Christopher mentions influences such as Kafka, Polish surreal poster art, Scottish artist Pam Carter, Penderecki’s work as well as French impressionists Debussy and Ravel. He sees art as putting things in places where you wouldn’t expect to see them. When listening to his music, it’s obvious that this eclecticism works, proof of which is the fact that his debut Architect earned him a Mercury Prize nomination. According to the Guardian’s Tim Jonze, in his magical debut, “classical meets dreampop.”
This year, he played at festivals such as Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Festival No. 6 and many more. He sold out London’s Union Chapel, released another amazing album, The Midnight Sun, and is planning a show in The O2 Arena, London. He received rave reviews from NME, The Clash or The Guardian, with the last named comparing his songs to the likes of Fleet Foxes, Sufjan Stevens and Billy McKanzie. In the dreamy atmosphere of his songs, C Duncan combines choral harmonies, acoustic instrumentation and a decent electronic music modulation. His performances are incredibly powerful: we saw for ourselves at last year’s Eurosonic, his concert being one of festival’s highlights.
