Baxter Dury – Icon of British Indie Music at Pohoda 2026

English singer and songwriter Baxter Dury is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British indie music. His music blends intimacy, dry British humour, and an outsider’s perspective with elements of electronic, disco, and dance music. At Pohoda 2026, he will perform his latest album Allbarone (2025), which has been a huge success and is being hailed by critics as his best work yet.

Known for his laid-back, storytelling style and sharp observations on everyday human life, Baxter Dury has built a cult status over the years. Though he hasn't received the traditional "mainstream" awards, his unique approach to post-punk, indie rock, and modern chanson has earned him a place among the most significant British lyricists of today. His albums regularly top the independent music charts.

Baxter Dury's music has undergone a remarkable evolution – from early lo-fi recordings with elements of spoken word to experiments with disco and electronic sounds. The pinnacle of this evolution is his album Allbarone, which he created in collaboration with renowned producer and Academy Award-winning composer Paul Epworth (Paul McCartney, U2, Adele, Florence + The Machine, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, and Lana Del Rey).

Dury has released nine critically acclaimed studio albums, a compilation, and numerous collaborations – including with Fat White Family, JGrrey, and Fred again.. It was his collaboration with Fred again… on the track “Baxter (These Are My Friends)” that marked a key moment in his career. Following that, Dury realised he wanted to create music that not only resonated with people through its lyrics but also got them moving. This experience inspired the creation of Allbarone, which pushes his musical boundaries towards a more danceable, electronic sound with a pulsating rhythm.

"When I heard the first single from Baxter Dury's upcoming album on Rádio_FM, I immediately snapped a picture of the display and knew I had another priority for 2026. Since then, the full album has been released. It’s fantastic, I keep playing it on my turntable, and I can't wait to see how these incredible tracks come to life on stage,” says Michal Kaščák, the festival's director, about the second confirmed booking for Pohoda 2026.

The album Allbarone is more energetic and rhythmic than his previous works – filled with synthesizers, disco beats, and elements of hyperpop, but still infused with deep lyrics about outsiderism and loneliness in an urban environment.

Baxter Dury is exceptional in his ability to be raw and vulnerable, yet provocative and fun – and it's these contrasts that shine brightest in his live performances. Baxter Dury's concerts are a mix of energy, charm, and irresistible British wit, so don't miss his performance at Pohoda 2026.
