Acid Arab – oriental house from Paris

Parisian duo Acid Arab play acid house inspired by melodies and rhythmic structures of oriental music that causes people to fall into a trance. They play Eastern music on analogue rhythmic and bass boxes and create oriental acid, which is a fusion of cold techno, emotions and drama-charged orient. According to Pitchfork, their album Acid Arab Collections “is among the most enthusiastic collections of any sort of dance music to come out in recent memory.” The faves of BBC’s DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson will be playing Pohoda 2017.

The principal figures of Acid Arab are Guido Minisky and Hervé Carvalho accompanied in studio by Sex Schön and Kenzy Bourras (keyboards). Guido and Hervé were the residents of Parisian club Chez Moune. What triggered their new orientation in music was a trip to Tunisia with Dj Gilb’R (owner of Versatile Records). What followed were visits to other countries of Northern Africa, Lebanon, Turkey or India where they started digging local music records out in the vinyl shops.

Their aim is not to add oriental elements to Western music but to mix and fuse these two cultures into new unique recordings. Their latest album Musique de France having received rave reviews from The Quietus or Mix Mag proves that this fusion works. Think that sounds of samples à la Prodigy and zithers don’t go together? Acid Arab will convince you of the opposite at Trenčín Airport.
