Šušková / Adamčiak – Constellations / Permutations SK
Renowned Slovak concert artist Eva Šušková will bring a tribute to Milan Adamčiak to Pohoda. The award-winning project Constellations / Permutations is a celebration of freedom, playfulness, and kindness.
The work of Milan Adamčiak moves freely across artistic worlds. His concrete poetry from the years 1964–1972, collected by Michal Murin in the volume Milan Adamčiak / ARCHÍV III, forms the foundation of the Constellations / Permutations project. For Adamčiak, words are not just written symbols but also sound and visual art. Eva Šušková gives them musical form, drawing inspiration from Adamčiak’s graphic scores and the sound aesthetic of Meredith Monk. The result is a delicate balance between the free and the written, the spontaneous and the structured. We hear a vocal collage in symbiosis with the sound of the cello, evoking the presence of Milan Adamčiak himself.
Eva Šušková enjoys crossing the boundaries of classical music, making her a firm part of Slovakia’s experimental and alternative scene. She has extensive experience interpreting Milan Adamčiak’s graphic scores. For many years now, she has been specialising in the interpreting of extended vocal techniques. As a creator, she focuses on writing and collecting vocal exercises and short pieces that make use of extended vocal techniques, as well as auditory and vocal games aimed at developing interpretative skills for 20th-century and contemporary music.
She is the recipient of the Tatra Banka Foundation Art Award in the Young Artist category (2013), the Radio_Head Award for Best Classical Album of 2015, multiple nominations in the experimental, classical, and jazz categories of the same awards, and the Frico Kafenda Prize awarded by the Music Fund for exceptional artistic performance (2016). The album Šušková / Adamčiak – Constellations / Permutations won the 2024 Radio_Head Award for Recording of the Year (Classical Music).
