In 2014, Nakhane won a South African Music Award for Best Alternative Album. He also has a couple of film awards for playing a starring role in film The Wound under his belt. Up until recently, he was not really known in the rest of the world, though. Everything changed this year with the release of his album You Will Not Die on which he copes with the conflict between his upbringing, religion and sexuality. The Guardian, BBC, GQ, Elle, Noisey or DIY singing the praises of him in their reviews put the spotlight on the artist. According to the media, his album is electrifying, charming and has made the dancefloor “a place of tenderness”. Nakhane is going to confirm these statements at Trenčín Airport at the beginning of July.
