Pohoda 2019 will also host the Bratislava reggae favourites Medial Banana. They already performed at Pohoda in 2015 and 2018, and the recording of their first concert is the second most viewed video we've ever added to our YouTube channel. Reggaeville.com, the most respected reggae website, ranked their collaboration album Inna Jamdown shot in Jamaica in the selection of the best albums of 2016. Their success lies on the basic pillars of the band, which, according to their own words, are tolerance, chill, love for nature, sun and comfort. Our most popular reggae band was formed ten years ago and we’re happy they’ll come to celebrate with us at the Trenčín Airport, too.
“Bananas” love, live, and play reggae music but they often enrich it with dancehall, hip-hop, jazz, funk, dub, and ska elements. The band originated in 2009. Soon, they released EP “Naturally lifted” that was followed by their debut “Uplifted”. Two songs on the album were mixed by the legendary Jamaican studio Tuff Gong that was founded by Bob Marley. The band wins their fans with funny lyrics and energetic performances. They released the Rockin'it album at the end of 2015, and right afterwards went to Jamaica to record Inna Jamdown about local music and life. The documentary resulted into an extremely acclaimed album of the same name full of collaboration with reggae legends such as Anthony B, Jah Mason and Bay-C, but also with the rising stars of the scene such as as Derajah, Davianah, Spectacular, Dre & KJ and Micah Shemaiah. Last year they released singles "Keď padá dážď" and "Môžem všetko“ which will be followed by a new album in their jubilee year. We’re glad they’ll bring both the new and older songs to celebrate ten years on the scene at Pohoda 2019 as well.
