Trenčín Chamber Orchestra to Bring Premieres and Timeless Masterpieces to Pohoda
Komorný orchester mesta Trenčín (KOMT) returns to Pohoda with a unique programme combining Baroque masterpieces, contemporary Slovak music, and world premieres created especially for the festival. The concert will feature new arrangements of the Slovak and European anthems by Peter Breiner, the world premiere of the first part of Pohoda Suite by Slavo Solovic, and a special guest appearance by renowned cellist Jozef Lupták.
22. June 2026
KOMT is one of Slovakia’s most distinctive musical ensembles. For 36 years, the orchestra has been dedicated to the performance of early music, bringing together passionate amateur musicians from Trenčín and the surrounding region. Throughout its history, the ensemble has performed extensively in Slovakia and abroad, collaborating with leading figures of the Slovak and international music scene.
The orchestra shares a special connection with Pohoda. KOMT was the very first classical music ensemble to perform at the festival, helping establish classical music as a regular and beloved part of the programme. Over the years, the orchestra has returned several times, presenting not only early music concerts but also premieres of projects such as Muflón Ancijáš and the theatre production Love.
For Pohoda 2026, KOMT has prepared a programme spanning centuries and musical styles. The concert will open with the world premiere of the first part of Pohoda Suite by Slovak composer Slavo Solovic. Festival audiences already know his work well – he is the creator of the iconic Pohoda theme music that has accompanied the festival’s radio and television campaigns for years.
One of the highlights of the concert will be a performance by cellist Jozef Lupták, who will join the orchestra for Antonio Vivaldi’s Concerto for Cello in A Minor, RV 422. The programme will also feature works by Marc-Antoine Charpentier and Jean-Philippe Rameau, performed under the direction of KOMT’s special guest Peter Zajíček of Musica Aeterna, as well as compositions by Francesco Geminiani, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, and Vlado Godár, conducted by Katarína Zboray.
The concert will conclude with a special moment as composer and conductor Peter Breiner personally presents and conducts brand-new arrangements of the Slovak and European anthems. Both works were created especially for Pohoda and will receive their world premieres at the festival.
The Trenčín Chamber Orchestra’s performance promises a unique meeting of musical history, contemporary creativity, and the spirit of Pohoda – a festival that has long shown that classical music belongs alongside every other genre.
