Stephen Budd to Bring African Beats and World Music to Pohoda

Stephen Budd is the man behind Damon Albarn’s Africa Express project and various festivals all over the world. At Pohoda, he will appear as a DJ, mixing a brilliant world music set to get you dancing.

Musically, his speciality is African music – he managed the revived band Songhoy Blues and has worked with artists such as Fatoumata Diawara and Seun Kuti. His passion for the continent’s music eventually led him to amass a vast collection of original 1970s vinyls packed with musical gems from Ghana, Nigeria, Congo, and beyond.

He's also known as a music organiser and presenter, and is involved in charity initiatives like Give a Home (Amnesty International and Sofar Sounds) and Passport: Back To The Bars (War Child). You’ll be able to dance to his vibrant DJ set on Friday night.
