At Pohoda 2018, you will get to see a selection of Jana Kirschner’s work spanning two decades in beautiful string arrangements by Spectrum Quartett led by Ján Kružliak. This exceptional project of the most successful Slovak singer was performed last week in Nová Cvernovka and this is how Hudba.sk portal captured it: “The result is a very playful and organic project with no space for boredom. The musicians from Slovakia and the Czech Republic have a very good chance, as the next edition of the festival will focus on these countries. It’s also thanks to Eurosonic that the names such as Aurora, Dua Lipa, Hozier, Mø, My Baby, Royal Blood, and Vök caught everyone’s attention. Every year, we discover new talent for Pohoda as well. Europeʼs largest showcase festival Eurosonic launched artist registration on its website (https://esns.nl/play-at-esns). The next edition of ESNS will be focused on artists from Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with eight bands from both countries being given the opportunity. Our artists can get to play the festival also thanks to RTVS (Slovak Radio and Television), which, as a member of European Broadcasting Union, can recommend one name. The great news for our artists is also a great honor for Pohoda, which was picked by the representatives as a partner for the focus on music from Slovakia. The advisory board includes Michal Kaščák representing Slovakia and Márton Náray (CEO at Sound Czech / Czech Music Office) representing Czechia. Again this year, we will place the smallest stage in the heart of the festival grounds — symbolically opposite the main stage — in the form of the cult area of the music scene - a garage. On Friday and Saturday early mornings after midnight, this will be the place of performance of the great bands carefully selected by Denis Bang from The Wilderness. 0N0 is a Bratislava-based doom/death metal three-piece. Originally a one-man project turned into this lineup in 2013: two guitars, three vocals. 0N0 combine heavy drop tuning guitar riffs with industrial discord and soundscapes. The result is a psychedelic mix, where agonizing rolling parts repeatedly alternate with explosions of blast-beat frenzy. In order to complete the atmosphere, all sorts of samples of atypical instruments or randomly found objects and field recording sounds are used. The current members have an album Reconstruction and Synthesis under their belt, which won them the 2016 Radio_Head Award in the category of Hard & Heavy. → read more

Čad is coming back to Pohoda. Thrash, grind or crust bands are a success in multi-genre categories in Scandinavia or Finland only. The trio Čad from Svätý Jur, which is one of the most successful artists in the history of Radio Head_Awards, breaks this stereotype. As band’s front man, linguist and religion journalist, Pišta Vandal, breaks another set of stereotypes, too. Toward the end of last summer, the band released a new album Bastard which, according to hudba.sk portal, is “full of high-tonnage darkness as well as catchy punk-rock revolt. Technical skills and refined taste helped the well-coordinated family bring the most interesting album of the year on the local hard&heavy scene.” At the beginning of this summer, they will introduce it at Pohoda 2018.
