A former child soldier from Southern Sudan, Emmanuel Jal, was separated from his family under dramatic circumstances at a very young age. This peace ambassador, actor and Juno Award nominated musician has now joined forces with his talented sister Nyaruach to record a vivacious album NAATH. Emmanuel has released five award-nominated albums, co-starred with Reese Witherspoon in the motion picture The Good Lie, performed at Live 8, Nelson Mandela’s 90th Birthday Concert and the One Concert for his Holiness the Dalai Lama. He is one of the spokesmen for the Make Poverty History campaign; he was awarded the Desmond Tutu Reconciliation Award 2017, The Dresden Peace Prize; he was asked to give a talk at TED Global, to be a Young Global Leader for the World Economic Forum, and he also performed at the G20 summit. Pohoda 2019 will also host the Californian band Death Grips. Their extremely vigorous mixture of experimental hip-hop, industrial noise electronics and punk rock earned recognition from music critics and fans around the world right with their first album. Many media write about them as one of the most interesting bands of this decade, while Pitchfork included their debut among the top ten albums of 2012. Death Grips have also collaborated with a Björk and inspired the albums of Kasabian and David Bowie. In 100 days they’re coming to the Trenčín airport to inspire the attenders of our festival as well.   → read more

Pohoda 2019 will also host the latest winners of Rádio_FM listeners’ award for the Album of the Year at Radio_Head Awards 2018 –  Para. For over two decades, the band has been successfully confirming their reputation of the top concert band. Pohoda 2019 will host the British soul singer Lianne La Havas. Lianne won the iTunes Album of the Year Award and was nominated to Mercury Prize for her debut Is Your Love Big Enough?. In addition, she has had nominations for the MOBO Awards, as well as nominations for the BBC Sound of Brit Awards, and Grammy Awards. Her excellent voice with a unique colour immediately astounded celebrities such as Prince, Alicia Keys, and Justine Vernon (Bon Iver). During the tour with Bon Iver, the American media called her the most remarkable voice since Adele. The concert of Lianne La Havas of the NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert is one of the five most watched in the history of this popular series (and Adele follows in the chart). Last summer, we saw her solo performance live on the main stage at Sziget and we are very pleased that her breathtaking voice will be heard also at the Trenčín Airport. → read more

Pohoda 2019 will also feature Trojan Sound System. This band and reggae culture institution in one consists of the selector (Daddy Ad) and vocalists who represent the most legendary reggae and ska record label in history – Trojan records. This London record label celebrated 50 years last year, and has been spreading its message through the original live line-up of Trojan Sound System over the last decade. Its members have performed at clubs and festivals around the whole world, as well as a support act for bands such as The Wailers, Luciano, Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Sly & Robby. Korben Dallas released a new studio album called Bazén this month. It was produced by Eddie Stevens who’s known for his collaboration with Moloko, Zero 7 and singers like Róisín Murphy, Sia and Jana Kirschner. A novelty for the album and the tour is a vocalist trio and Ľubo Petruška, this time not only as a special guest, but as a full member of the band. The band is currently presenting the record on a Slovak-Czech tour. After it’s over, Korben Dallas will also perform at Pohoda 2019.   → read more
