Diana Paulová: Tu nateraz  SK

EXHIBITION: NONSTOP

GUIDED TOUR: FRIDAY 2:30 PM – 2:50 PM

The site-specific work "Here For Now" depicts a tent peg, which becomes an emblem of summer festival ease while also opening up the theme of home as a place where we've chosen to stay, for now.

Diana Paulová is the winner of the Pohoda Visual Art Contest 2024. "Here For Now" will be featured for the third time as part of the Visual Stage, where the festival showcases contemporary art.

"The work engages with the object of the tent peg, which the artist enlarges to a monumental scale. The motif of the peg is a witty yet genuinely touching tribute to a seemingly insignificant object, without which the festival couldn't function. It's a universal object that costs only a few cents, yet is invaluable when building a temporary home; it's inherently itinerant, people lend each other pegs, and a special level of solidarity and coexistence emerges within the temporary festival home. The reference to themes of home, nomadism, temporary shelter, and a chosen place to live feels very strong and relevant in the work — especially in the current social context of migration, but also in our post-election discourse about where to move, whether to go or stay, and where to drop anchor, even if only temporarily. Diana Paulová's work is an outstanding response to what we're currently experiencing, and at the same time, thanks to its site- and context-specific nature, it has the potential to become a monument of the Pohoda festival," adds visual artist and Visual Art Contest 2024 juror Lenka Kuricová.
